MedicMaestro – a live quizzing event for allopathic family physicians, medical interns and specialists – was hosted on 3rd and 10th April 2016 by PIE, a Mumbai-based organisation that creates programmes related to medical education and entertainment.
The quiz covered topics related to day-to-day OPD practice spanning pain management, thyroid disorders, pharmacotherapy of diabetes and more. Twenty two doctors answered questions based on their specialties and on general medicine in a rapid-fire format. The top four quizzers – gleaned over two qualifying rounds – vied for the title of ‘MedicMaestro 2016’.
In Qualifier One MedicMaestro we were treated to 12 enthusiastic doctors firing off answers to questions on travel medicine, pharmacotherapy of hypertension and more – all in under 3 minutes!

The top scorers for Qualifier One were:
- Dr. Leena Bhagat – 25/30
- Dr. N. K. Kumar – 23/30
- Ashwin Pillai – 22/30
- Sameet Patel – 22/30
Qualifier Two (10th April 2016) was a mix of tense moments and charged emotions and only Dr. Susheel Kumar (scoring 21/30) managed to make it to the finals.
It was a fantastic end to an addicting format, which saw family physician Dr. N. K. Kumar crowned MedicMaestro 2016 with a mind-boggling score of 26/30!
Our congratulations to runners up Dr. Leena Bhagat, Dr. Ashwin Pillai and Dr. Susheel Kumar, in that order, for putting up a great fight and to all the doctors in the audience for their enthusiasm!
